The Rosetta Stone

stone2.jpg  (continued from homepage) .....nearly a year after their victory in Battle of the Pyramids which prefaced the French occupation of Egypt and subsequent studies of ancient Egyptian intellectual treasures and artifacts. The Rosetta Stone yielded a "middleware" solution to the top scientific researchers of the era.  The stone (basalt) had engraved upon its face three sets of inscriptions written in three separate and distinct languages. Two were reasonably well known and the grammatical rules and structures of those languages could be identified and catalogued.  It was found that both sets of these writings said basically the same thing. The third language was hieroglyphics.  Researchers at this time were making many extraordinary discoveries throughout Egypt. They felt they were discovering the scientific and mathematical marvels of ancient Egypt, however, most of the information was contained in hieroglyphics and thus remained mostly a mystery.  By identifying relative, contextual similarities between the first two sets of writing in the two languages, researchers (many over many years) were able to extrapolate the inferred meanings of the hieroglyphic characters.  Thus the Rosetta Stone was the functional conexus or "middleware" that provided researchers with a tool to understand the recorded history and scientific achievements of Ancient Egyptian civilization.

Our Vision....

Language Resource Online! is dedicated to being the "middleware" or "conexus" that brings technology, language and culture together in a meaningful and relevant manner.  We believe that language skills are a fundamental neccessity for global economic development and cultural tolerance. Through the promotion of language and culture technologies we strive to create demand for language applications through awareness and knowledge transfer.

We expect market forces (competition) to drive continuing innovation, ultimately providing anyone, present, or future, the ability to learn any language.  These same technology innovations will make it possible to save and archive ancient languages, indigenous languages and current contemporary languages. Applications will allow us to save more than the artifacts of the language, they will allow us to archive the ability to teach the language digitally and interactively.

Language Resource Online! seeks to extend the function of The Rosetta Stone beyond understanding the hieroglyphics of Ancient Egypt. We seek to promote a knowledge and market exchange that facilitates the permanent archival of all languages and thus a permanent record of the cultures they embody.

The website is designed to provide vistors with a specific interest in language the means to navigate and quickly locate relevant and valuable information about language related products and services.  Our primary goals are:
  • Promote awareness of endangered indigenous languages and cultural preservation efforts.
  • Locate and present the highest quality, innovative language and culture technology applications available worldwide.
  • Provide direction to companies and organizations seeking language solutions

We hope you find the language resource you are looking for.  If you are absolutely "stumped" feel free to drop us a note and we'll see if we can help you turn something up.  Contact Us
