A
number of language software publishers have converted
their programs to an Internet format. There a
number of other publishers who will work with educators
to create a customized curriculum that is deployed
through the Internet within a pre configured application
architecture.
These
online solutions are most frequently available as one
year renewable licenses with cost predicated upon the
how many languages are licensed and how many users are
licensed.
The
strength of online applications is that they are
deployable across large geographies without incurring
infrastructure costs to accommodate them. Some
publishers have done a very good job of integrating
Student Management Systems (SMS) and Student (Progress)
Tracking into the online language courses as well.
Theses tools make it possible for an instructor to
monitor and actually direct the progress of individual
students remotely.
